Why did A US company buy 3000 Chinese Cherry engines for
the US?
We could never figure this out when we were asked to do
a quality check on these before delivery. Who would be
using a Cherry engine in the US.? To replace a GM Chevy’s
engine??? Well, AutoMexspecs in Mexico says, perhaps it
is for the “Yonke” in Juarez. You can find
lots of automotive ‘Yonke” (junkyard) in Juarez
holding lots of discarded old junked US cars and trucks.
To find a replacement engine or part for his own used and
well-loved car/truck, he goes to a Yonke to cannibalize
and pay for a part from a same model and make. Well, junked
engines, do not work, so why not get a cheap new Chinese
Cherry. At least it works longer than a junked engine.
We wished the US company all the best as it means more
inspection work for us.
To know more about how the engines
gets across the border with minimum taxation, talk to us
about your inspection needs and we will tell you more.
